Produce Aisle

Shipping

From our floor
to your shelf.

Fresh produce is only as good as the last mile it travels. Here is how orders are packed, held and moved once they leave the catalogue.

The shipping process

Four stages between confirmation and delivery

Nothing exotic — but each stage exists to protect the condition of the produce you are paying for.

  1. 01

    Grading and packing

Produce is graded against the specification for its line and packed to the stated case size. Cases are labelled so they can be checked against your order on arrival.

  2. 02

    Cold chain

Packed cases move into temperature-controlled storage appropriate to the product. Holding conditions are matched to the line rather than applied uniformly across the floor.

  3. 03

    Palletising

Orders are consolidated and palletised for wholesale volumes, stacked so cases at the bottom of a pallet arrive in the same condition as those at the top.

  4. 04

    Dispatch

Loads leave on a dispatch date agreed with you in advance, so your receiving team knows what is arriving and when to expect it.

Condition on arrival

Packed for the journey it is taking

Case specification is not just a count — it determines how a line is stacked, what it is packed in and how it holds up in transit.

Produce that bruises is packed differently to produce that does not. Lines that need to breathe are not sealed. It is unglamorous detail, and it is most of what separates stock that sells from stock that gets marked down.

Shipping FAQ

Common questions

Is freight included in the case price?

No. Every price on the weekly inventory is the wholesale price per case and excludes freight. Freight is quoted against your order once volumes and destination are known.

How far in advance do I need to order?

Lead time depends on the lines and the volumes involved. We agree a dispatch date with you when the order is confirmed rather than committing to a blanket turnaround.

Can orders be consolidated onto one pallet?

Usually, yes. The limit is temperature compatibility — products that need materially different holding conditions are kept separate to protect quality in transit.

What happens if a line sells out before dispatch?

We contact you before the load leaves. Depending on what is on the floor, that may mean a substitute line, a reduced quantity or moving that line to a later dispatch.

Do you deliver internationally?

Destinations depend on the lines involved and the freight arrangements available. Send through your delivery point with your enquiry and we will confirm what is workable.
